Pneumatic Cylinders
Pneumatic cylinders, also known as pneumatic actuators or air cylinders, are mechanical devices that use compressed air to provide linear or rotary motion in industrial automated systems, machines, and processes. Most commonly, pneumatic cylinders include a piston and rod moving inside a closed cylinder, where the piston performs the desired movement to complete a given task, such as a picking and placing system in factory automation. Pneumatic cylinders are quieter and cleaner than hydraulic cylinders and do not require fluid storage. Since the operating fluid is a gas, leaks will not contaminate surrounding areas, making pneumatic cylinders popular in applications requiring cleanliness.
