Description

The Watlow EB metric cartridge heater is a proven performer like the industry-standard Watlow FIREROD®. The same premium materials and tight manufacturing controls go into the construction of the Watlow EB metric cartridge heater. The only difference is that the Watlow EB metric cartridge heater is packaged in a more economical metric-sized design. Instead of having the high watt density capabilities of the FIREROD®, the Watlow EB metric cartridge heater is made for medium watt density applications while still providing the superior heat transfer, uniform temperatures, and resistance to oxidation and corrosion for which Watlow heaters are known.

Watlow EB metric cartridge heaters are built using only the finest materials and construction methods, and are backed with extensive quality assurance programs. Years of testing have proven certain construction materials and manufacturing methods to yield the best performance for Watlow EB metric cartridge heaters. Following are the standard materials used in Watlow EB metric cartridge heaters:

The Insulation:
Watlow uses only high purity MgO, compacted (swaged) to a carefully predetermined and closely monitored density. This assures high dielectric strength and efficient, fast heat transfer. Swaging has the added benefits of: permitting the resistance wire to operate at lower temperatures, a critical factor in longer heater life; enabling users to achieve process temperatures faster; providing more uniform heating to the application; reducing energy costs through better heating efficiency; and, making the heater more durable and more resistant to shock and vibration.
The Resistance Wire:
Watlow's nickel-chromium wire of computer calculated gauge, length and spacing is wound on a supporting core and precisely centered assures even, efficient distribution of heat to the sheath.
The Lead Wire:
Watlow uses only the finest high temperature wire available. Flexible stranded wires, with silicone-fiberglass sleeve, insulate the wires to temperatures of 250°C (480°F).
The Pins:
Metallurgically-bonded conductor pins, crimp-connected to the resistance wires, ensure trouble-free electrical continuity. This process provides lead flexibility just 8 mm (5/16 inch) from the end of the heater.

Due to Watlow's experience and tight manufacturing controls, the Watlow EB metric cartridge heater provides an economical solution for medium watt density applications while still providing the superior heat transfer, uniform temperatures and resistance to oxidation and corrosion for which Watlow heaters are known.
