Megger large clip 15kV screened test leads consist of a red, positive, un-screened lead which is usually connected to the ground and a black, negative, screened lead. The screen is connected to the guard terminal of the instrument and terminated with a bare clip. Induced currents flow to the guard terminal and are not measured. This improves measurements made with a floating output where the leads might touch each other or another object other than the test piece.
