Description
The RKI Instruments Beacon 410A gas controller allows users to simultaneously control up to four gas monitoring channels while displaying the gas type, readings and status of each channel. With the ability to monitor and control any combination of direct connect sensors (LEL, O2, CO2 and toxic gases), this RKI Instruments gas controller can also accept and monitor any 4-20mA transmitter (2- or 3-wire).
Three programmable alarm levels per channel and three alarm relays per channel give the RKI Instruments Beacon 401A gas controller added customization. Each channel also provides a 4-20mA output signal and a digital Modbus interface gives the 401A remote data logging capabilities via a Modbus network. A fully configurable strobe is available as an option. The min-max feature retains high and low peak readings for review at any time.
This RKI Instruments gas controller can be powered from 115/220 VAC, or an external 24 VDC source. A trickle charging battery backup feature with battery assembly is also available as an option. All features and functions of the Beacon 410A are controlled by easy-to-use menus on the OLED display. Additionally, all features including form-C relay contacts of the are built into the unit eliminating the need for add-on components or accessories.

Here's how some of our customers use this product...
Multigas Testing of Safety Chambers
The Background: Our customer is a test facility conducting research into safety chambers that can be used as a refuge for miners if an event should occur in a sub-surface mine. As part of the testing process, our customer needs to monitor the amount of oxygen, CO2 and other gases inside the chamber to ensure it is capable of supporting life.
The Problem: The testing includes simulated human breathing to see how long it takes for oxygen levels to drop and other gases, such as CO2, to build-up to unsafe levels. Multigas testing can be expensive and limit versatility.
The Solution: We recommended the RKI Beacon 410A gas controller which can accept any 4-20mA device and direct connected RKI direct mount sensors. The customer used direct mount sensors so they didn’t even need to invest in transmitters. Direct connect sensors can work up to ~500' away from the panel if needed. Alarms can be set directly on the device and a light can even be supplied directly on the panel.
