Description
The GF Signet 2551 Magmeter is an insertion style magnetic flow sensor without any moving parts. All versions of the 2551 are constructed of corrosion-resistant materials to provide long-term reliability with minimal maintenance costs. Utilizing the comprehensive line of GF Signet installation fittings, sensor alignment and insertion depth of the 2551 is automatic.
These versatile, simple-to-install 2551 deliver repeatable flow measurement over a wide dynamic range in pipe sizes ranging from DN15 to DN200 (0.5 to 8 inches), satisfying the requirements of many diverse applications.
The 2551 offer three output options for use with GF Signet flow instrumentation using a frequency or digital (S³L) sensor output. The 4-20mA output can be used for a direct input to PLCs, chart recorders, etc. Both the 4-20mA output and digital (S³L) sensor interface are available for long distance signal transmission of up to 1,000 ft. The GF Signet 2551 with a built-in display can be used for permanent and resettable total. The display contains multi-languages with English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, and Portuguese menu options.
The 2551's empty pipe detection features a zero flow output when the sensors are not completely wetted. The frequency output is bi-directional while the 4-20mA output can be set for uni- or bi-directional flow.
Applications for the 2551 include:
- Chemical processing
- Water and wastewater monitoring
- Metal recovery and landfill leachate
- Commercial pools, spas, and aquariums
- HVAC
- Scrubber control
- Neutralization systems
- Industrial water distribution

Here's how some of our customers use this product...
Swimming Pool Filter Monitoring
The Background: Our customer is a water park that needs to monitor the flow of water through their filtration system as a means of accurately estimating filter performance.
The Problem: Hair and other debris can make it past the filters and foul many types of flow meters such as paddlewheel meters. The chemicals used to clean the water can also react with the materials found in some meters.
The Solution: The GF Signet 2551 was designed as a replacement for the popular GF Signet P515 and GF Signet 2536 insertion paddle wheel flow meters for applications that contain debris or are chemically incompatible with the paddle wheel materials. The 2551 avoids these problem altogether by virtue of its design. There are no moving parts to get clogged and the materials used in its construction are immune to the effects of the chemicals in the pool.
