The KROHNE UFM 600T ultrasonic flow meter can easily be clamped on existing pipelines with
inner diameters between 50 mm and 3000 mm (2" to 120") and pipe wall thicknesses up to
40 mm. These flow meters from the KROHNE UFM 600T Series provide efficient flowmetering
and volume counting of clean, homogeneous liquids with low gas and solids contents. This
wall-mounted UFM 600T system can be used for volumetric flowrate measurement and volume
flow counting of liquid products using ultrasonic wave propagation time to determine the liquid
product.
The KROHNE UFM 600T ultrasonic flow meter offers obstructionless measurement without changing
the existing pipework and without any headloss. The UFM 600T is an economical solution for all
kinds of flow measurements of liquids containing no or little solid particles or gas.
Configuration and Function of the KROHNE UFM 600T Ultrasonic Flow Meter
-
At the measuring point 2 ultrasonic sensors are attached to the outside wall with the
aid of a mounting device.
-
Each sensor emits and receives sonic pulses that are digitally converted in the signal
converter.
- Data output in metric or US units via display, current, frequency and status outputs.
Applications of the KROHNE UFM 600T Ultrasonic Flow Meter
- Demineralized water for cooling purposes
- Boiler feedwater in power stations
- Pretreated wastewater in sewage plants
- Checking other flowmeters
- Oil
- Acids
- Alkaline solutions
Transit Time Ultrasonic Flow Meters – Technology Explained
Transit Time ultrasonic flow meters are well-suited for relatively clean fluids with low to
moderate aeration. These meters operate by comparing the time for an ultrasonic signal to
travel with the flow (downstream) against the time for an ultrasonic signal to travel against
the flow (upstream). The difference between these transit times is proportional to the flow,
and the flow meter converts this information to flow rate and total. With this technology, the
transducers are mounted on the outside of the pipe, providing tremendous advantages over
more traditional and invasive flow measurement instruments such as magmeters, vortex meters,
and turbine flow meters.
These benefits include:
- no system downtime for installation
- no system contamination
- no pressure drop
- no moving parts
- no risk of leaks
